Legal Question in Social Security Law in Maryland

lied about soc. sec benefits

my ex stated on his home loan application that he is receiving soc sec disability benefits, yet when I called soc sec to confirm this, we have a child together, they stated he is not receiving any benefits.

How in the heck did he use that lie about his income to obtain a $228K home loan?!!!

We are in the middle of a divorce and my question is,

If I present this information to the court can the courts do anything about this outrageous lie?

Re: lied about soc. sec benefits

The court can certainly consider the lie in weighing any other testimony which differs from yours. Of course he signed his application for the home loan under penalty of perjury, but courts prosecuting attorneys will almost never pursue criminal charges for perjury in a domestic case, even when the perjury relates to testimony in a custody action where the harmful consequences of a wrong decision may be far worse. His lie may have some effect on any decision of the court concerning marital property.
