Legal Question in Traffic Law in Maryland

Driving without a license

I was pulled over and got a citation for driving without a license. I had maryland tags and a valid NY state license. He said that I had 60 days to get a maryland license so technically I was driving without a license. I've only been in maryland for 3 mnths. If found guilty that's a $320 fine and 5 points on my license. Is it true that technically I was driving without a license? This was a citation 16-101(a) under maryland law.

Re: Driving without a license

While it is true that you are technically violating Maryland traffic law, there are many exceptions. For this reason, you should have an attorney with you in court. Without discussing your case further, I cannot give you a 100% answer, but in all likelihood an attorney such as myself would be able to get you off with no points on your license (NY or MD). I would be happy to discuss your case in more detail via e-mail/telephone/in-person to determine the likelihood of successfully defending the charge. My firm specializes in defending traffic charges such as driving without a license, and we have over 25 years of expertise in the area.

Driving without a license

There are many defenses to this citation, for example, why did he pull you over, he could not tell you did not have a Maryland license. You should contact a criminal lawyer, like myself, to prepare a defense so that you get a not guilty.
