Legal Question in Traffic Law in Maryland

i was stopped for driving in the day time prior to dawn w/o my headlamps on. Upon speaking to the officer i discovered my license was suspended for non payment of a non speeding ticket. The ticket was paid, but paid late and i have the receipt to show. Because everyting was paid and the officer said there are no points and no fines on the ticket, i would just explain this to the court and pay whatever fees and get my license back correct? Also NO prior offenses

The officer does not decide for the state whether to pursue charges. The State's Attorney does. Whether you violated the law, and if so, the penalty, would be decided in court. Although it is unlikely that a person who has resolved the suspension and otherwise does not have a record probably would not end up in jail, driving on a suspended license carries either 60 days or a year, depending on how it is charged.

Keep in mind that if you speak directly to the state, then your statements may be used against you. Also, you do not control whether the state or the court would agree with your view of the case, regardless of whether you are right or wrong.
