Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Maryland

It appears hat my stepdaughter emptied my husband's bank account just days before he died with the power of attorney that he told me she initiated. I've been told that if I request copies of his bank statements for a certain period of time, that she has no obligation to give them to me even though the estate is in probate here in Maryland. There is also a questionable will that names her as personal representative, and property that I am sure exists is not listed or accounted for. She basically has reported him as almost indigent.

You should consult with a lawyer as soon as possible as there sounds like there could be issues of undue influence here, both with respect to the power of attorney and the will. You can file a challenge in court that could require your step-daughter to account for her actions and demonstrate that they were proper. Feel free to email me ([email protected]) or call me (301.294.6570) if you would like a free consultation on this matter. My office is in downtown Rockville but I can meet you in Bethesda as well if that is more convenient.
