Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Maryland

Estate bank accounts

After my Grandfather died 19 months ago my Grandmother took Grandpops name off the accounts and put my name on all accounts, checking, savings and two cd's. She told me this way what ever money was left after she passed away would be mine without going through the courts. She just passed away. Is this money now mine or does it still have to go through probate.

Re: Estate bank accounts

if the accounts were joint (titled in both your grandmother and your name), they are now yours alone. If the accounts were titled fbo (for benefit of) or some other type of beneficiary designation, the accounts are yours but you will need to present a death certificate. Again, it depends on how the accounts are titled.
