If you mother doesn't want to consult with an attorney for an office visit.

She should review the Maryland Register of Wills website. It provides basic rights and responsbilities for the personal representative and trust tips, including proper expenses.

To answer your question, a Trustee handling funds under a Trust created in a Will is entitled to a commission. This is based on a percentage of the money / assets the Trustee handles and varies with the size of a trust. Trustee fees can be determined by looking at Title 14 of the Estates and Trust article of the Maryland Annotated Code.

It often makes sense to have an attorney help with the handling of an estate and/or trust.
