Legal Question in Business Law in Massachusetts

Corporate Insurance Deductions

I was hired by a company, and selected full insurance. Because I was hired ''mid-week'' my deduction was for the full weekly amount during the first pay period (2 weeks) but I was only employed one week. The company said they dont ''pro-rate'' and I was technically charged for a week BEFORE I started. Is this legal? The are ''self-insured'' through United Insurance. Employees who start at the end of the pay period are not charged extra, and I had no choice on my start date. I hadnt even picked my insurance until the week I was hired. Please Help?

: Corporate Insurance Deductions

This may be company policy, but functionally they deprived you of your full earnings, and they may have violated the wage law.

You can contact the Attorney's General Office.
