Inquiry

Can a collection agency request payment on a charged off account by the original creditor? They stated that they would not accept a monthly payment plan.The original creditor stated that my account was charged off and he already claimed it on his taxes.?

I am not sure I understand your question.

Are you trying to say that the creditor charged off the debt, and gave you a 1099 for the value of the charged off debt?

"Charged off" is simply internal jargon relating to bookkeeping of the creditor. "Charged off" does not mean that the debt is forgiven. What likely happened is that the debt was sold, and now the new creditor has all the rights of the original creditor, including the right to sue.
