Legal Question in Consumer Law in Massachusetts

Service responsibility

I am having my carpets taken up in one bedroom, a hallway and stairs, all hardwood floors will be installed. In doing so furniture will be moved around. My question is will the company be responsible for any damages and do I need to get this in writting.

Re: Service responsibility

Always get everything in writing! In addition, if you are that concerned, make sure you photograph the furniture the day before it is moved.

Good luck! Maria Murber

Re: Service responsibility

Not only do you want to get the terms in writing, and take pictures from different angles, you also want to make sure they are currently insured, and get a copy of their insurance binder.

To be on the safe side, call the insurer twice, once before you sign and they sign, and second when the job starts. Get the name of the person who says they are insured.

GOod luck.
