Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

my car was involved in a felony. ( stealing something from a store at a mall worth more than $250) and I do not know who took the car because I was in another country at this time. What can they do to me if I just don't know? I have 5 kids that were here they have friends they will not tell me who took the car...I have proof I was not here .. I have a clean record but I am being told that this is a felony and face jail, fines.. can you give help me with telling me what you think can happen.. thank you

Have you been questioned? Use of a motor vehicle in the commission of a felony requires the police to prove that had knowledge that it would be used in the commission of a felony. If you are out of the country and have absolute proof to that effect then you are not responsible.

Who is telling you that this is a felony? The police? Or is it someone with nothing to do with this? From what you've said, I don't know why the police would try to go after you and drag you into this case. If you have concerns, consult directly with a criminal defense attorney.
