Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

how to drop charges

My ex girlfriend had me arrested for assault and battery (domestic) last week. Now, she wants to drop the charges against me. Can she do this or does the state take this case and keep moving forward with this?

Re: how to drop charges

It is up to the state as to whether they want to drop them. There are many different factors-your prior record (if any), facts of case, policies of the office and whether the case can be proven without your girlfriend's testimony. Hire a good defense attorney who knows the system and who can help you to get the best resolution. Please feel free to contact me further. Martha Kovner
