Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

I was an employee at a shoe store. I used a coupon and was terminated because that was against company policy, but I was never made aware of that policy. There is no handbook for employees, and I was detained by loss prevention and a police officer for three hours. I was paid the next day through the mail for those hours, and made to sign an agreement saying that I will have to pay restoration to the company for $14, plus court fees. I was charged with petty larceny. Is this really the end of it, or am I getting blind-sided? I work in schools, and will have to submit to CORI checks, will this effect my employment?
