Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

my fiance and i recently bought a puppy for our daughter. we brought him to vet for his check up and he found he has something wrong with his heart. we had to bring him to the er right away, where he has been for 3 days now. he is pending further testing. we are currently up to around $2,000 in dr bills for him. he was supposedly seen by the stores vet every friday who recored on his records he was normal and healthy for sale. we purchased him on a saturday. the vet and er drs say this problem he is having didnt happen over night or within the week we had him. what can we do? we contacted the store and all they are offering is to have return our puppy for our money back, have thier vet treat him, or if he passes with a year of purchase we will get our money back. the stores vet didnt treat him properly in the first place and noted he was normal/healthy. what are our options? what do we do? can the store be held responsable for the bills?

It sound like the store and the vet may have engaged in unfair and deceptive trade practices (c. 92A). I would suggest writing a demand and list their conduct as unfair and deceptive and ask for the dr. bills plus the cost of the dog. The store then has 30 days to respond. If they do not respond with a reasonable offer then you may be entitled to triple damages, atty fee and costs. FYI most dogs bought at a store have issues.
