Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

There's this guy I went to school with. I said some mean things to him before. We are now living in 2 different states.

For the last few years he's been sending me emails - emails filled with hatred, like calling me names and cursing me. I was so worried and thought he wanted to hurt me, although he said he has no plans to hurt me but just hates me. How can I sue him?

What are you going to sue him for? Being mean. If his conduct has been extreme and outrageous and has caused you emotional distress that is manifested by physical symptoms, you may have a claim for infliction of emotional distress. If he is publishing to third parties untrue things about you, you would have a claim for defamation. However, I would recommend considering taking criminal out. It is a crime in mass to make a serious of harassing phone calls and I believe the statute has been amended recently to include emails. I would demand that he stop and inform him that I'd he does not you will go to the police.
