Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

Is a person required to be physically present in a court of law, in order to recieve an indictment? This is for MA State. I read in the local newspaper that a relative was indicted and the relative was not aware of it.

No.

An indictment like a complaint is filed with the court, and the person is summonsed to Court. There maybe an issue of service or notice.

If the relative needs assistance, and this relative will, have them contact me.
