theft at jc penny in peabody mass

i was arrested at jc penny and went to court. because i have a clean record and i am 58 years old it was dismissed with a 250.00 fine now jc penny is trying to gat me to pay them 500.00 when i never took any product from there store, can they sue me after it was already taken care of at court need help?

In short, yes, they can. Remember the OJ Simpson case: one can be found civilly liable while not having been convicted of matters stemming from the same incident. Your best bet is to try to come to an agreement with JC Penney unless you want to defend a lawsuit.

JC penny can sue you. Usually the issue gets resolved in a restitution hearing in the criminal session. Was any part of the fine suppose to compensate JC penny?

What this sound like is a threat letter sent by a firm hired by JC penny which are sent to countless people. Most people quickly bend over. My suggestion to you is that it may be worth a consultation with an attorney.
