Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Massachusetts

Women discrimination at University

Alright here is the situation:

There are woman students at the undergrad and grad level and they are barred from declaring a major in such male dominated fields as science, enginerring, business, or legal studies. They can major in humanities such as: english, history, literature, or in traditional female fields like nursing or education. Furthermore no woman is permitted to work as faculty or research assistanta in labs in the science and engineering for the sake of their physical health as prospective mothers. All new hires must pledge not to give birth during their first three years on the job.

Some people were thinking about bringing a lawsuit based on the 14th Amendment, arguing that there is no rational basis for the university to pass such policies.

I was wondering what are the strengths and weaknesses of both sides of this arguement?
