i want to know what my rites are i am 76 yewars old i gave my newphew my house back in 2003 i missed one payment and the damp opened they refincenced the house and paid there bills thye wanted me to pay 2000 a month i was paying 1540 a month so they are charging me interest on the differnce which brings it up to almost 20000 dollars they sold the house and are now sending me a lawyers letter to collect the money i have 30days to respond

I agree with the other attorneys that you need to consult with an attorney in this matter. I also suggest that you contact your local elder services agency, which can investigate this as a possible protective services case. Since you are in Danvers, you should contact North Shore Elder Services on Sylvan Street in Danvers. Their number is nine seven eight, six - two - four, two - two - four - five. Attorney Wood is correct that your legal rights will depend on a number of factors.

For example, it is not clear why you were obligated to pay $2,000/month in the first place if you had given the property to your son.

Just because a lawyer tells you that you must respond within 30 days does not mean you are legally required to do so.
