Re: Appealing a Divorce

You can appeal any judgment, but you must have a legal issue to appeal, and it must be reasonable, or you may find yourself paying both lawyers and the costs of the appeal.

If the divorce was contested and you or your lawyer objected on legal grounds to some procedural item or testimony, which resulted in an unfair decision, or if you believe the judge was biased in some way in terms of custody, visitation or division of marital assets, you may have a valid appeal.

If you just want to appeal the granting of the divorce, it's not worth it. No court will force one person to stay married to another.

You should have a lawyer for the appeal, and there are lawyers who specialize in appeals. They are expensive.
