Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

divorce that is granted in Czech

I am divorcing my husband(he is US citizen, I am Czech citizen) through the use of Czech court.

How can I legalize my divorce in the USA? Where I have to send all paperwork in the US?

Will my divorce that is granted in Czech recognized by Massachusetts courts?

THANK YOU

Re: divorce that is granted in Czech

A Massachusetts court does not have to recognize a divorce from a foreign country. However, since you are a citizen of that country, the court may recognize it. In particular, the court should recognize it if the divorce terms are fair and reasonable. You can get the Massachusetts Court to recognize a foreign divorce by filing an action to recognize a foreign divorce or an action to enforce a foreign divorce.
