Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

Family Crisis, married daughter abused and suicidal

Our 24 yr old married daughter is in an abusive and controlling relationship. Her husband has kept her from us as well as her 2 babies by obtaining fraudulent court claims and restraining orders. She is depressed and is currently in the hospital for her 2nd suicide attempt in 2 months. Do we as her mother and father have any rights to intervene over her husband to help her? Please help! We are desperate and scared for her well being. Thank you

Re: Family Crisis, married daughter abused and suicidal

If you can prove that the court orders were obtained fraudulently, you can pursue the husband legally, although that may only cause more problems for your daughter. Unfortunately, your daughter has to be willing to take the necessary steps, which include leaving him for a safe place with the 2 children and talking to a lawyer.

See if the hospital has access to a service that can have someone speak to your daughter about abusive marriages and how to get out. Especially how to realize that the abuse is not her fault. That's just his excuse for the abuse. She has to take the first step and it's not easy.
