Hello,

Custody of a minor child in Massachusetts is determined by what the best interests of the child are. There are several factors which can be used to determine which parent will be awarded custody of the child.

The fact that your husband is an alcoholic and is verbally abusive are both important factors, and would negatively impact his case for custody of your children, however there is additional information that I would need in order to better evaluate your case.
