Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

My son's father has been paying our rent as part of child support now for over 8 yrs ( my son is 8 yrs old) we got into a huge fight, he emailed my landlord and told him that he will no longer pay rent that it's up to me. I can't afford to pay it, which means now we have to move out of a life style that we have been use to. Can he do that?

What does your child support order say? You should take it to an attorney to determine what the father's obligations are and what your options are going forward. If you don't have custody and support orders in place, you should consider filing a complaint to establish paternity and seek orders of custody, visitation, and support. You may want to speak to a tenant-landlord attorney to see if your eviction can be prolonged with the hope that your issue with your child's father can be resolved. Good luck.
