Legal Question in Legal Malpractice in Massachusetts

Motorvehicle/mechanic

This is the problem my car stopped running (wouldn't start.

so I took it to a near by mechanic. I told the mechanic what was wrong with my car, so I bought the pieces it needed. The mechanic called me and its not what i thought it was it was something else he told me in order to check what was wrong with it he need to do a computer test and that would determine what needs to be fixed.so i bought the pieces which cost me about $190.00 I payed $45 for the computer test and $65 for him putting the pieces. the outcome is my car is still the same way cant move it. cant get my money back, since my car shut down on me i had to park it in a two hour parking limit, meaning it shall be getting towed soon, more money i half to pay that i dont have plus I half to pay to fix it again. I do still have my reciept. what should I do

Unfortunately, your remedy may not be worth it. You can bring a claim in small claims court. It takes a long time for a decision and collecting is difficult. You could call the StateConsumer Affiars office and ask for their help or any of the TV stations. You can call the Better Business Bureau. You can go to the press in your town. You do have a claim under the consumer protection statute which should be added to your small claims case-that way if you win you get up to three times the actual damages you suffered.

THis is not legal malpractice. This is a tough call. You could end up spending more time and money, and the likelihood that an attorney would take this case is small. What I would suggest is that you have the car towed to another mechanic who you trust, and have him check the car. Then you will be in a better position to know what to do.
