Legal Question in Personal Injury in Massachusetts

Is Family liable for not disclosing mental illness of son

I was dating a young man for 6 months. He is now in police custody for kinapping and assault and battery against me. This young man apparently has a history of unstable and dangerous behavior that was never disclosed to me. His family's premise was to get him off their hands and into some unsuspecting female who would love him so she (me) would have to deal with him. This young man has done physcial harm to my children and has attempted to kill me. Do I have any recourse against the family for not letting me know how potentially dangerous he could be?

I am not sure why yo are going after his family, unless he is a minor. Do not take my unsolicited opinion as discounting any harm this person did to you or your family. I do not believe that when one adult dates another adult, his parents have a duty to disclose to a third party the type of information you now have. Maybe somebody out there has a different opinion, but that is mine.
