Buying an extra parking space in condo complex

How can I be sure I have a deeded parking space after I pay for it.

Do I need to get an attorney to do the necessary paper work or can I expect the condo asso. to take care of it?

If there is a deed, then your can search the history of the title in the registry of deeds.

You can expect, but there is no guarantee that the condo association will do what you should expect.

Depending on the value of the space, this is a cost/benefit analysis.

If you have a deeded parking space which was not purchased with the unit (i.e. you are purchasing it separately from a unit you own), you should be provided with a copy of the deed and recording information from the registry of deeds.

On the other hand, if you are purchasing it with the purchase of one or more condo units, it should be in the unit deed for the condo unit and or reflected in the master deed as amended. If you do not find it in one of these places, (both having been recorded at the registry of deeds), you should inquire of the association.

In any event, the contract to purchase the parking space, because it relates to the sale of land, should be in writing, and should be clear as to what you expect to receive and when you expect to receive it, along with any additional obligations you are assuming by accepting a deed to the parking space (e.g., snow removal costs, maintenance, etc.)
