Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Massachusetts

lawn maintenance

I understand that as a tenant of a signle family home we are going to maintain the lawn. I am curious if the landlord has any responsibility to provide a lawn mower.

Re: lawn maintenance

I would not assume that you are responsible for the maintenance of the yard or exterior of the home unless it states as such in your lease.

Assuming you are responsible for the maintenance of the yard, it is perfectly acceptable for the landlord to require you to provide your own tools. It is also completely reasonable for you to refuse.

You will need to work this one out with your landlord, but do not assume you are responsible for yard maintenance in the first place.
