real estate questions

myex girlfriend put a lis pendance on the saleof my house. She is not on the deed or mortgage and is suing me for equity in the house. Can she do this and what are the chances of her getting my equity? We have 2 children together and she did not put any money down.

Re: real estate questions

The answer depends on a multitude of issues, if she is suing for support for the children that is one thing, if she is suing based on her contribution or another theory for a claim against the equity in the house, that is something else.

You may have options depending on the facts of the case. You should contact an attorney to determine whether the matter has merit and whether there is a chance that the lis pendens can be removed.
