Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Massachusetts

Do Secuity Depoist increase? or is it a one time thing?

My landlord ask me to pay the Security Depoist Incrasee fity dollars. I never heard of a Security Depost Increase. I thought it is a one time thing.I have live at many other apartments for several years and I never had my Security Deposit Increase.I do not see any thing about Security Deposit Increase in my lease. Also I am Deaf and I am wondering if he is trying to take an advantage of me thinking I am stupid and will not find out about the law etc. He is asking me to pay by April 24.I am refusing to do this.He says there is a law that allow landlord to ask for Security Deposit increase and I must follow the law and pay the fifty dollars. I told him I will check this out.Can he ask me to pay for Security Deposit increase? This is my second year at this apartment. Should I get a lawyer if he continue to force me or harass me about paying Security Deposit Increase.

They are often done and they are often provided for in a lease.

Do you have a lease?

I think you should have paid it, frankly, instead of looking at it as a personal insult. It's YOUR money and will bear interest as well in the escrow account in which it is to be held.
