Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Massachusetts

Tenant at will refuses to leave.

I'm a Massachesetts landlord. I have a tenant in my basement with no lease, not that we did not offer one in the first place though. After we have asked this tenant that we need the appartment for personal use, it has become apparent that he is more defiant. How do I go about evicting this person and who do I need to contact if I need to evict him forcefully.

I have plenty of good reasons to evict him.

Re: Tenant at will refuses to leave.

You will need to go to court to evict your tenant,

either to the Housing Court if your county has one

or to the District Court. You will file your

complaint for eviction in the Summary Process

session of the court. An attorney would be helpful

in this instance because you are starting a law-

suit and you need to comply with the technical

rules of court.

Good luck.
