The downpayment came from my grandfather. How can I protect myself without causeing huge problems if anything happens and we split?

Hi

I would request that a mortgage to your grand father in the amount he loaned be placed on the title on the house after it is purchased

Re: Not on Title

Get a tight legally binding agreement, or else you will regret this for a long long time.
