If you and your spouse live or own property in Maine, you should speak with a Maine attorney about your plans.

If you live and own property in Massachusetts, I would be happy to speak with you. There are ways to reduce the portion of your estate that passes through probate. In addition, there is an informal administration for very small estates.

Generally, however, it is not possible to completely avoid the probate process. I should add that the number of heirs has no bearing on whether probate is required.
