Legal Question in Workers Comp in Massachusetts

I got hurt on the job a few weeks ago and I reported it to my boss that night. I've seen doctors and my Human Resources department told me that everything was all set. Today I contacted my Worker's Comp agency and they said that today was the first time they had ever heard of it. So 3 weeks in now I can't get the medical help I need. I was referred to an orthopedic surgeon but they will not see me until the Worker's Comp agency contacts them. I am a part-time employee also. My injury is getting worse. Was the lack of help from my human resources department detrimental to my care and can I get paid for the time I miss even just being a part-time employee?
