Legal Question in Business Law in Michigan

home occupation

I moved my pet grooming business into my home 1 year ago. Before I did this I made sure that I had the permission of the City of Lansing, MI. I also went to each neighbor to make sure that they would not have any problems with what I was going to be doing. The City came to my home and inspected it and approved me for what I was doing.

Now one year later they want to make me quit. I have been arrested. Harrased and tickected. I begin in court today with the trial in court. The city is asking the judge to intervene. Do I have any recourse or rights.

Re: home occupation

Why are they asking you to stop? It doesn't make sense that they would give you the go ahead, then change their mind a year later unless something occurred - such as a neighbor complaining, etc.

What happened at the trial? You can always request an adjournment and tell them you want to find a lawyer (even if you don't end up hiring one).

You can also contact attorneysforanimals.org which is an organization of lawyers who handle animal related issues.
