Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Michigan

Dismissing a personal protection order

I got a personal protection order against my husband a week ago. I would like this dismissed. When I went up to the courthouse, they said I had to have a hearing and it couldn't be set up for a month. On the paper I filled out, it sounded like a only had to have a hearing to modify or extend my PPO. It stated that if the petitioner was requesting a termination, the judge could just sign it. Is there something I can do to not have to wait a month for a hearing before he is aloud back in the home?

Re: Dismissing a personal protection order

Every judge has their own policy on this. Remember, they want to discourage the filing of PPOs that later get withdrawn. Bill Stern 248-353-9400
