Legal Question in Technology Law in Michigan

Email Fraud

I left an employer to return to school. The owner uses my old company email account, acting as if he is me, to email people to dig for information on me (has done other illegal things as well). I know of one case in particular where the recipient knew I no longer worked for this idiot and notified me. This other ''victim'' emailed me the three emails which came from my old account.

Do I have any legal merit? What can I go after this guy for?

Re: Email Fraud

On the surface of things, your old boss has the right to use your old email account as he sees fit, since the account really belongs to him. HOWEVER, once he starts impersonating you, that's identity theft, seems to me. An interesting question without a doubt. If you're in SE Michigan, I'd be interested in hearing more about this case.
