Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

My father who is 88 years old and is suffering dementia, his only source of income is social security, and disable veterans pension. When he was found out that he suffers dementia his driver license was taken away, and the lease vehicle that he had was returned. After the vehicle was returned he got bill for over $6,000, can the creditor garnishee his income?

Only if you put the income in a bank account. If he has more debt than this, it may be beneficial to file a Chapter 7 or 13. Otherwise, if you have the ability to cash the checks at a store, they will not be subject to garnishment.
