Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

questions on summons and complaint

I was just served a summons and complaint. I owe this money for medical bills and I am waiting to see if my disability is going to go through I have not been working since this hospital stay. I am married and my husband is working but we are barely making it. Should I contact the lawyer representing this case to make payment arrangements or is it too late. What should I do next, I really have no answer to answer this complaint with except we are scraping by week by week trying to get back on our feet after this unexpected hospital stay that put us behind in the first place.

Re: questions on summons and complaint

Sure - call and see if you can get the amount down, but be sure to get it in writing. If you are unable to do that, and you have other bills you are behind on, Chapter 7 MAY be an option. However, many issues must be considered before taking that step.
