Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

possession of marijuana

my husband is on probation, as part of it we are subject to random searches. when they came they spotted a pack of zig zags, i gave them my stash which my husband was unaware of. during the time i was being issued a ticket one of the ladies in my house threatened to have my son removed. she innterogated me about my usage, and then said i had to call my mom to come get my son or he was being taken. i imediatly said i wanted to speak with a lawyer. i was told i didnt need one and to sit down. i called my mom this lady spoke to her for a moment then my mom hung up. when i called my mom back i told my mom what the lady said about coming to get my son. my mom came straight over. as they were obvious threats the police left as my mom happened to show up. this lady went on and on to my mother about how i had a serious problem and i was an addict that i need help and she hoped my mother had enough infulence over me to see me get help. i am a 25 year old woman, and completly ready to face my consequences. i am terriably concerned that i was not treated fairly. i do not live with my mom, i am not a minor. any advice is needed. thanks

Re: possession of marijuana

Your problem may be two-fold: first, a marijuana possession charge, but second, the Court may want to bring a civil action against you to terminate your parental rights. This happens all too often and usually takes people by complete surprise. I handle criminal cases as well as parental rights termination cases. Feel free to call my office and discuss if you need more information. Nancy L. Moore, 19500 Victor Parkway, Suite 290, Livonia, MI 48152 (734) 591-3737
