Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Michigan

age discrimination

Is it legal for a restaurant to deny a person from ordering off a childrens menu if they are not a child ? They sometimes state ''12 and under''. The portions are usually smaller, therefore, smaller price. My daughter is over 12 but does not have a big appetite. She was denied from ordering at a chain restaurant. Please advise for further reading.
