Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Billing for services to other party in divorce

Without my prior knowledge or authorization, my husband called and visited to my divorce attorney's office and spoke with him (concerning conflict on interest in the case). My attorney has billed me for the time involved, over 2 hours. Is this a legitimate expense to me? Or do I have any grounds for my husband to be responsible for this billing?

Re: Billing for services to other party in divorce

If I can assume that your husband is representing himself in the divorce action, then your attorney HAD to speak (and presumably negotiate) with him. YOu can ask him about the substance of the conversation and withold payment if you it was not necessary.
