Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Change of Residence

My ex and I have 50/50 legal and physical custody. I am looking to move over 100 miles away and need to petition the court. He is fighting my move. Is it possible to get my move approved even though he is fighting it? I is for a job that pays double what I make now.

Re: Change of Residence

He can fight it and he may or may not succeed depending on the judge and your reasons for the move. First, you must show that the move has the capacity to improve the life of you and your child. Second, you must show that you're not moving to spite your ex and deprive him of parenting time. Finally, you must figure out an alternate parenting time schedule to allow for the change in location, including how to handle transportation costs.
