Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Child Custody question

My sister and her child's father will be going through a custody battle. They had made an agreement that she would have full custody of the child and he would have the child every other Saturday and Sunday (no overnight visits). She asked for her child support and he refused to give it to her this time and said he'd give it to her later. When she asked for it again he blew up at her and told her he was going to sue for joint custody and he'd never pay child support again. I am so concerned. He is not a fit parent. He has been in trouble with the law. He is emotionally abusive. Is there a chance that he would be able to get joint custody of the child? What can be done about this? Thank you for your time and help.

Re: Child Custody question

There is no way for an attorney to give you any sort of accurate opinion about a custody case without knowing a lot about the particular case. You sister should meet with an experienced and aggressive attorney right after the holidays.
