Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Child Support Issues

Soon to be ex-wife will be remarrying boyfriend that she left me for. Took our 3 children with her, she does not work and I pay over $250. per week in support, is there any way that it can be reduced? Why can't I claim something on my taxes? I pay her over $13000. a year in support, shouldn't she have to support them as well? Why isn't the boyfriend's income included since she doesn't work? Please help

thank you.

Re: Child Support Issues

Dear Sir:

This is in response to your email of January 15, 2001, which we received February 10, 2001.

You should refer to your Judgment of Divorce as to your question relating to taxes and support amounts. To make a change in the amount of your support obligation, you must petition the Friend of the Court for modification.

Sincerely,

Blair Moody
