Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Divorce was final in 2006, complete with FOC, supervised visiting time for my ex with the kids, and child support payments set up. During the fall of 2006, my ex was fired from his job and arrested for 4 counts of armed robbery. He has been in prison since then. He has since threatened legal action against me for not bringing the children to visit him in prison. Can he do this? What rights do I have to stop this? Is there a way I can terminate his parental rights?

Thank you

Wendy

What are the ages of your children? And in what county is your case being supervised?

I would not bring the children to the prison. Your ex has no legal ground to require it.

Yes, we can terminate his parental rights, depending upon the length of his prison stay, and other factors. I think you have very good grounds.

Feel free to contact me.
