Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Divorce in Michigan

My husband and I are getting a divorce. We have no minor children an have agreed as to how the assets will be divided. We would like the paperwork completed as soon as possible. Since we both are in agreement can we both go the court to file for divorce rather than having one of us file and then having to wait for the other one to be served?

No, only one of you can be the plaintiff. I caution you against trying to practice law on your own. Even though you feel that you agree on division of assets, a properly drafted Judgment may well save you many problems down the road. You're probably no more qualified to practice law than you are to practice surgery. Hire a lawyer to do things correctly.
