Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

What to do next ?

I have joint custody for my 6 y.o. son with primary residence with his mother. I have solid evidence that he is neglected, verbally and pushed around by his step-dad. I tried petioning the Friend of court to modify our custody, but they rejected my motion based on the fact that I am single and I haven't contacted the FIA regarding incidents of abuse. I was thinking of appealing the decision in front of judge, but I was told that I can't provide any additional evidence, not shown at the time of the hearing.During the hearing I wasn't allowed to present any evidence, due to the fact that it wasn't approved by my ex-wife and it was not coming from the Family Independent Agency or Women's Aid. Please help!

Sounds like you need a lawyer. I cannot tell you specifically what you need to do without knowing more. Also, it may be more effective if you retain an attorney. For more info, please contact my ofiice at (248)851-3171.

Re: What to do next ?

Did you have an experienced family law lawyer representing you? If not, that is your problem. It sounds like you can still put together a case but you probably need the help of a good lawyer. I'd spend the money because nothing is more important. You'd spend it to get your car fixed, why not to save your son's childhood? William S. Stern 248-353-9400
