Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Ownership of home

I have a question, who has ownership of a house. My wife was married before and we live in her house. Her husband from before is on the title as well but when they got a divorce he signed over the house to her. Now in that divorce they decided that the house should goto their child. My question is this if she passes away who gets the house her son or me.

Re: Ownership of home

If you are on the deed as a joint tenant with rights of survivorship or tenants by the entirety, the house goes to you upon her death. If you are on the deed as tenants in common, it can get a little stickier. If her will reads that her son inherits and you are not on the deed, the son inherits. There's more combinations than that, but those are the most common. All of this is assuming that the ex-husband executed a quit-claim deed to the property.
