Legal Question in Immigration Law in Michigan

Will domestic violence (deferred sentence) impact on green card application?

Hi, I'm a foreign student in a michigan graduate school. I've been arrested twice for domestic violence last year. This April I pleaed guilty for 1 of the cases and got a deferred sentence. The other case had been dismissed. I'm considering to find a job and stay in the States after graduation, so I'm eager to know if the sentence will create a problem for the admission of 'green card'.

I'm graduating May 2002 and still have a 2 years probation from 2001 to April 2003.

Will there be any problem with finding a job and changing Visa from F-1 to H1-B?

And when is the best time to start applying for green card, with all the coditions?

What if I work in a state other than Michigan? Whom shall I consult to have enough information before I decide to work there?

My e-mail is [email protected]. Thank you very much for any information you provide!
