Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Michigan

I need help with someone who is threatening me.

I am in need of serious help and I don't know who to turn to. I have made a police report with the Romulus police and Detective @#$%# threw it away. It involves a young man by the name of ''DD'' , my husband and myself. DD told me that if I didn't say what he wanted me to that he would make a police report himself. I felt my life was in danger. In my police report I stated that he follows me to work among other places. He also forced me into sexual acts and taped them and photographed them. You can clearly tell in the photos that I did not want to be photographed and many of them were without my knowledge. I have a PPO issued against him and in retaliation he is having his friends now harass me and is threatening to distribute my photos!!! For money and for humiliation. I contact the Romulus police in regards to this and they tell me they cannot do anything. We both live in Romulus and we both work in Plymouth. He continues to drive by both places and harass me. I do not know what to do.

Hmmm.

Well, first of all, you make no mention of your husband's role in all of this. It sounds shaky that you were being threatened and he wasn't, or that he let this go on and did nothing to prevent harm to you. Sounds mighty shaky.

In any event, things like this happen and you need to protect yourself, since no one else is helping you. You have to sit down and think this through, -- a lawyer can help you do this, but you have to be straight up about what happened. Don't let anyone try to convince you it was or wasn't rape: you know in your heart what happened and you have to try to get clear on it before involving anyone else. This way, when things happen, you'll be ready and can defend yourself. If you go into it swinging wildly, you'll be worse off.

Rape is a crime. If you were forced to have sexual relations against your will, then you were raped. Don't think that you have to submit to something just because someone threatens to file a police report, and you certainly don't have to do it just because your husband thought it might be fun. Obviously, there's a lot more going on here than you're telling, so you really do need to talk with a lawyer in person.

Consider that you need to file a rape charge; they can't refuse to take your police report.

Make sure you mention that they are also extorting money from you. Even if you consented to having the pictures taken, they can't legally extort money from you.
